Barry Gene Shinn,76, of Kannapolis, died January 1, 2022 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center after a period of declining health. Born February 8, 1945 in Rowan Co.; Barry was a son of Frank Leroy Shinn of Kannapolis and the late Frances Shuping Shinn.

A lifelong area resident, Barry was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School Class of 1963. He worked as an electrician for Fiber Industries/ Hoechst Celanese in Salisbury. He was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Barry enjoyed fishing and golfing with his sons. In earlier years he played softball for both the city and church leagues. Barry loved the Lord and was a devoted family man. He really loved his grandchildren.

In addition to his father; Barry is survived by his wife of 42 years Debby McClary Shinn; his sons Bryan Shinn (Delia) of Garner and Brad Shinn (Ashley) of Concord; his daughter Melissa Jean Shinn of Kannapolis, 7 grandchildren; Hunter and Allison Shinn, Gaston Blackmon, Jakob and Joseph Parham, Sadie and Hutch Shinn, his brothers Jimmy Shinn (Shirley), Mike Shinn (Gail) and Jeff Shinn and his sister Connie Lisenby (Ronald)

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Whitley's Funeral Home on Friday January 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
