Carolyn A Bentley

Carolyn Bentley, 77, passed away Monday April 13, 2020, at Atrium Heath Cabarrus.

Born on March 9, 1943 in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Irene Rimer Upright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Gladys Morgan Brown, Robert Junior Upright, Ray Daniel Upright, Kenneth Lee Upright, Barbara Upright Crisco, Sadie Jean Dewitt, Phyllis Upright Thompson and Mildred Upright Lawing.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Carolyn had retired from Rowan County School Systems after 30 years of loyal service at Enochville Elementary School Cafeteria. A faithful member of 77 years at Unity United Methodist Church where she served God through her cooking, meal delivering as well as visiting shut ins. She also enjoyed caring for her 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Carolyn was “the boss” who always organized family gatherings and made sure the family stayed intact. Wherever Carolyn went she was always sure to bring homemade treats. On weekends it was a ritual that she enjoyed going shopping with her 4 generations. Sundays were sacred for church and family and friend feasts. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Family members left with fond memories include her husband of 59 years, Jim Bentley; her children, Larry Bentley (Connie) and Anita Freeze (Craig); her grandchildren, Amanda Carter (Corey), Andrea Hafner (Zachary), Kurtis Bentley, Brittany Schmidt (Nick), and Casey Freeze; her great grandchildren, Alice, Stella, Maximus, Bexley, and Alexander; her siblings, Joyce Bowden (Sidney), Betty Morgan and Luther “Bud” Upright (Peggy).

Mrs. Bentley will be laid to rest at Unity United Methodist Church Cemetery.
