Nancy (Freeze) Clayton

Nancy Freeze Clayton, 83, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at home in Landis, NC surrounded by her beloved family.

She was born in Landis, NC on July 18, 1937.  Nancy was a daughter of the late Herbert Edgar Freeze and Dorothy Correll Freeze and was the tenth of twelve children. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby J. Clayton; son, David Wayne Clayton; six brothers, Elbert Freeze, Leonard Freeze, Ray Freeze, Glenn Freeze, Melvin Freeze, and Billy Freeze; three sisters, Doris Stillwell, Mary Scarborough, and Betty Daniels.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Karla Clayton Travis and husband, Teddy of Landis and step son, Russell Clayton of Concord; three grandchildren, Ashland Travis Jones, Hunter Travis and Spencer Clayton; two great grandchildren, Makenna and Madilynn Jones.; two sisters, Cora Ella McWaters of Landis and Joyce Robbins (Rodney) of Charlotte, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Nancy was a faithful Christian whose heart was devoted to the Lord. She was a long-time member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time outside gardening, going shopping, and making crafts. Her neighborhood was very special to her and she will be dearly missed by all in the community.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Blackwelder Park Baptist Church. A funeral service to honor Nancy’s life will follow and begin at 3:00 p.m. at Blackwelder Park Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Hayes officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
