Obituary: Adam Eugene "Gene" Allman, age 81, of Concord went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from CMC-NE after a period of declining health. His funeral will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, Dec. 17 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randall Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral. Gene was born January 6, 1933 in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late Clifford D. and Marie Bost Allman. He was a lifelong area resident and member of Eastwood Baptist Church. Gene worked for Cannon Mills for many years in the weave room of Plant #6 as a loom fixer. He retired in 1990. Gene enjoyed riding his motorcycle, rabbit hunting and gardening. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Sharpe Allman, his son, Chuck Allman and his sister, Faye Teal. He is survived by his daughter, Crystal A. Williams (Ron) of Kannapolis, Stepson, Joe Sharpe (Linda) of Mooresville, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Gene is also survived by his brother, Bud Allman of Myrtle Beach, SC and his sister, Daisy Loebs of Greenville SC and numerous loving relatives.
