Ald (Ron) Mckinney

Obituary: Ronald (Ron) Gene McKinney, 70, of Kannapolis passed away peacefully at his residence on March 7, 2019. He was born November 30, 1948 in Wake County, a son of the late Johnnie and Nora Elizabeth Honeycutt McKinney. Ron graduated from NC State with a degree in Textile Chemistry. He retired from Mastercraft (formerly Collins&Aikman) where he was a Process Chemist. After retiring, he drove for Enterprise Car Rental. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher, worked with RA's, and was a member of the Baptist Men. Ron was an avid sports fan, especially an NC State Wolfpack fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. Ron is survived by his wife, Sharon Collins McKinney; three children, Beth McKinney, fiancé Jason Hill, Michael McKinney, wife Charity, John McKinney, wife Gabrielle; granddaughter, Annabelle McKinney; and two brothers, Steve McKinney, wife Sharon and Craig McKinney, wife Gina. A celebration of Ron's life will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, March 16, 2019 at First Baptist Church, 101 N. Main Street, Kannapolis officiated by Rev. Tom Cabaniss. His family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service. In memory of Ron, donations may be sent to Organic Acidemia Association, www.oaanews.org This goes to fund research towards treatment and cures for metabolic disorders which his granddaughter has.
