Alice Cress Hurlocker

Obituary: Alice Gayelle Cress Hurlocker, 89, of Kannapolis, NC went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Curis of Concord. Alice was born March 12, 1929 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late Jay Lewis Cress and Cora Ruth Walker Cress. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Buford Earl Hurlocker who died April 29, 2008. Alice was of the Lutheran Faith. She taught school for 32 years; the last 20 years at Winecoff Elementary School. She attended Pfeiffer College and was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College. She enjoyed knitting and gardening. Family members left to cherish her memory at one daughter, Jane Hurlocker and husband Marty Lestz of Kannapolis, one sister Ruth Owens of Hickory and a brother Lewis Cress of Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Center Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Hurlocker.
