Obituary: Alice "Carolyn" James, 79, of Kannapolis passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Carolyn was born October 26, 1937 in South Carolina, a daughter of the late Charles James and Inez Donnan James. She was a longtime resident of the area. Carolyn had taught at South Rowan High School for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher's Sorority, Kannapolis Chapter and retired School Personnel Treasurer for 10 years. She was also a member of the U.C.T Carolyn was very active at Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member for many years. She was a former Sunday school teacher and active with the Senior Group. She also loved to cook. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Memorial Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Leon Hawks and Rev. Larry Wood. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior at the church. She is survived by her brother, Charles F. James (Loretta) of Chicago and her best friend, Floy Gentle of Kannapolis. Memorials may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 1785 Dale Earnhardt Blvd, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
