Obituary: Alice Miller Smith, 81, of 2883 Westfield Ave., Concord died at her home on Feb. 27, 2012. She was born on Feb. 23, 1931 in Charlotte, the daughter of the late David M. Miller and the late, Bessie Lola Smith Miller. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Smith. Alice has been a resident of Cabarrus County since 1969. She was a homemaker and dearly loved salt water fishing, snowmobiling, and dearly loved to travel. She was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church where she was very active in all parts of her church, all of her life. Survivors include her husband, Elder Thomas Smith of the home; 3 daughters, Brenda Brenton (Mike) and Linda Perkins (Derrell) both of Concord and Glenda Carter (Robert) of Oak Island, NC. Also by 9 grandchildren: Michael, Tracie, Kelly, Brandon, Adam, Bryan, Jared, Justin and Nathan; 10 great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Pam Smith of Charlotte. The funeral for Alice will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 1st at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Brother Mike Bigham, Elder Alan Richardson, Brother Tim Pless and Brother Lundy Logu. Burial will take place at West Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Whitley's from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 29th. At other times they will be at the family home.
