Alleen Willis Pence

Alleen Pence, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 9, 2024. at her residence.

Alleen was born a coal miner’s daughter April 16,1929 in Lynch, Kentucky. The tenth of sixteen children born to the late George W. Willis Sr. and Laura Bell (Fins) Willis. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Eugene “Gene” A. Pence Sr. and by thirteen brothers and sisters. Alleen is survived by son, E. Allen Pence Jr. and wife Margit; daughter, Ann Burrus and husband Tom; son, David Pence; grandchildren: Kristen Greer and husband Bruce, Michael Burrus, Brian Pence and wife Megan, and Kelly Burrus; great-grandchildren: Maxton Greer, Adalyn Greer, and Emily Pence; brothers: George W. Willis Jr., and Charles “Jiggs” Willis ; along with many nieces and nephews.

Alleen moved from Weber City ,VA to Kannapolis, NC in the late 1940’s and married there in 1952. While raising a family she worked for many years at Cannon Mills Co. which later became Fieldcrest Cannon Inc. from which she retired in 1993. She was a longtime member of Jackson Park United Methodist Church. Alleen and Gene enjoyed dancing at the local Senior Centers along with bowling and traveling. Even in later life she was very active at her church and with gardening and working in her yard. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed and remembered as time goes on by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. A celebration of life service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Eugene Oldham officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family would like to thank Steve and Peggy Lynch for their constant support and help through the years and the staff at Atrium Medication Management in Concord for all they have done for Alleen over the years
