Obituary: Allen Woods, Jr., 81, of 302 Locust St., Kannapolis died at CMC-NorthEast in Concord on May 4, 2013. Mr. Woods was born on September 22, 1931 in Darlington, SC, the son of the late Edgar Allen Woods and the late Virginia Louise Outlaw Woods. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Zelma Lee Boone Woods who died on Nov. 28, 2012 and, three sons and a brother. Mr. Woods was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army. He moved to this area in 1982 from S.C. and started working in the Spinning Room at Cannon Mills retiring after 23 years of service. He was a member of Living Word Baptist Church in Kannapolis. The funeral service will take place at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 am, Wednesday May 8, 2013 conducted by Rev. Wayne Hall. Burial will follow at National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Tuesday, May 7th, from 6-8:00 pm . At other times they will be at the residence. Mr. Woods is survived by a son, Johnny Woods of Patrick, SC; 4 daughters , Joyce Ann Watkins, Rhonda Woods Hancock, Donna Louise Hammonds and Loretta Rose Woods, all of Kannapolis; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Diane Webster and Brenda Wall both of Myrtle Beach, SC and a brother, Raymond Andrew Woods of Kingstree, SC. Visitation: 6:00-8:00PM Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home.

Service: 11:00 am, Wednesday May 8, 2013 Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: National Cemetery Salisbury, NC.
