Alta Mae (Bost) Christy

Alta Mae (Bost) Christy, 86, of Mooresville went peacefully to our Lord on September 28th 2023 at Northeast Medical Center, Concord following a brief illness.

Born June 21st 1937 in Rowan County, she was the 10th of 13 children of the late Holland and Grace Bost.

She was educated in the Rowan County Schools.

She married Guy W. Christy on March 10th 1956 and remained at his side for 55 years until his passing in 2011.

Alta was a military wife from 1956 until 1972. Following that she served many years in the School Food Service at South Rowan High School before retiring as a pharmacy tech for China Grove Drug Company. Her highest calling was found in caring for others. Be it parents, siblings, nieces or nephews, Alta gave comfort to her extended family with tireless love and compassion.

She was a member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church where she was as a Sunday School teacher, nursery attendant and served on various committees.

Alta is survived by two sons, Daryl (Stephanie) Christy of Albemarle and Jeff (Mary Carl) Christy of Kernersville; grandchildren Gage Christy of Naval Air Station China Lake California, Bethany Christy (Jay Carter) of Kannapolis and Jack Christy of Kernersville; great-granddaughter Edi Meredith Christy-Carter of Kannapolis.

Surviving siblings are sisters Helen Craig, Frances Hill and Hazel Freeze;  brothers Rev. Gene Bost , Jerry Bost and Tom Bost.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday October 1st at 2:00 pm at St. Enoch Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dale Cline officiating. The family will receive friends in the Church Fellowship Hall following the Service. Her burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Alta request that donations be made to Unity UMC Kannapolis, Mobile Meals on Wheels program.
