Amy Jo Riggs

Amy Jo Riggs, 55, of Kannapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 30, 2022 after eight months of declining health.

Amy Jo was born on August 15, 1967 in Cabarrus County to the late Joe and Mildred McIntyre Riggs.

Amy Jo graduated from A.L. Brown High School class of 1985 and went on to attend Appalachian State University. Amy was a caregiver for many elderly people in the community. She loved taking care of them. She had a special place in her heart for animals and rescued many dogs and cats. She also loved horses. Before her health declined, she would make up bags for the homeless and give them out. She never met a stranger and always made friends easily.

She is survived by her sister, Kathy Austin and husband Mike; brother, Paul Byrd Jr. and wife Peggy; partner, Conley Cooper; and beloved pets, Muffin, Dexter and Sammy.

The family will receive friends on from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow and begin at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home with Rev. R.J. “Beaver” Hammond officiating, who was one of her very good friends.
