Andrew Jackson Taylor, age 77, of Kannapolis died Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the W.G. Hefner VA Med. Center in Salisbury, after a sudden illness.
His funeral will be at Tabernacle Baptist Church 1028 Ed Weaver Road in Salisbury at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 19 with Rev. John Melton officiating. The family will receive friends at the church the hour prior from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Private burial at the National Cemetery in Salisbury will be held at a later date.
Andrew was born July 25, 1943 in Avery Co. He was one of 13 children, born to the late John and Essie Sluder Taylor. In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by 10 of his siblings.
Andrew was a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War Era. He raised his family in the Charlotte area for 30 years and then he and his wife moved to this area in 2000. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Salisbury where he served as a deacon. Andrew was a loving father and a devoted husband and loved the Lord Jesus Christ and gave of himself. He worked in the fire service and went into construction in 1973 and trusted God for everything. Andrew never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Joyce Green Taylor, his son, Nathan Taylor (Kaloni) of Lexington, his daughter, Danielle Canupp (John Jr.) of China Grove, his grandchildren, Esther and Hannah Canupp and Layla, Monica, Lillian and Lindsay Taylor, his great-granddaughter, Haylee Humberson and his two sisters Lois Vance of Avery Co. and Mary McCanless of Burnsville NC.
