Anita “Tammy” Lane Corriher, 65, of Kannapolis, passed away Sunday evening, April 30, 2023, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Born January 29, 1958, in Mooresville, she was the daughter of the late June Medlin Hartsoe.
Tammy grew up in Kannapolis and attended A.L. Brown High School. As a young adult, she worked at Cannon Mills and also worked in various jobs at several restaurants in Kannapolis and Winston-Salem. She eventually became a mainstay at Stag & Doe in China Grove, where she worked on-and-off for nearly 40 years as a waitress, bartender, cashier, and in any other way she could help.
Tammy worked for several years as a teacher's assistant at South Rowan High School before moving on to run her own residential and office cleaning business for nearly 30 years, serving hundreds of clients, many of whom became like family.
Outside of work, Tammy was a dedicated mother and spent a countless number of days at a field or court and traveled the country to watch her son and daughter play sports. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with family and friends, visiting Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, and Key West, among other places. She also loved helping her many friends as a babysitter and dogsitter, always arriving with a treat.
Tammy will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving mother with a tireless work ethic who was willing to sacrifice anything to help her children. Coworkers and customers will remember her infectious smile and lively personality that always brightened the occasion. Everyone who visited her will remember the large collection of snowmen and chicken decor in her home, depending on the season.
Tammy was preceded in death by her mother, June Medlin Hartsoe; her brother, Tony Williams; and grandparents, Claude and Gussie Medlin.
Family members left with cherished memories include her children, Ivan Corriher (Amy Leslie) and Kayla Corriher and her dogs, Ember and Lucky; cousins, a niece and nephew.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 7th from 2:00-4:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Services to remember and celebrate Tammy’s life will begin at 4:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Reverend Dennis Craft.
