Ann Cress Erwin, formerly of Kannapolis, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday morning, November 16, 2021, following a two year period of declining health.
Born in Cabarrus County, Ann was a daughter of the late George and Dora Aycock Cress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Kenneth Erwin, Sr., a son, Stephen Eugene Erwin, and a brother, Gerald Wayne Cress.
Ann was a graduate of A.L. Brown High, and attended North State Business College and Rowan Tech. Mrs. Erwin had retired from Canon Mills, later working for King’s Heating and Air. A devoted member of Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church, she loved her church and church family. Ann enjoyed playing the piano, loved helping others, was kind hearted, and was lovingly known as “Mawmaw” to many. Although in a much better place today, she will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Family members left with many cherished memories include her children, R. Kenneth Erwin, Jr. (Becky), Tim Erwin (Luana) and Linda Erwin King (Greg); 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 18th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Ann’s life will begin at 12 pm Friday in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Chuck Overcash. Entombment will follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
For those who may prefer, memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church, 4225 Vincent Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
