Obituary: Concord - Anne Brown Henderson Sims, 89, of Concord completed her life's journey on earth and peacefully went home to be with her Lord on May 30, 2009. Mrs. Sims was born on September 28, 1919 in Concord to the late J. Leighton Brown and the late Mary Elizabeth Johnson Brown. Her early years were spent at Forest Hill United Methodist Church where she was active in UMW from an early age. After marrying and moving to Kannapolis she became a member at Trinity United Methodist Church. She was active in the UMW there and also served as treasurer for some years. She was also the MYF director and the girl scout leader for a number of years. She was the present chairman of the Mary Bullock Circle. Anne was also active in Credit Professionals International. She held many offices and attended many seminars around the U.S. learning credit practices to pass along to her many customers. Following many years of arranging flowers and directing weddings at Curran's Florist, Anne became the Credit Manager at J.C. Penny. Later she was a teller at First Union Bank and retired in 1986. Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her first husband Eugene B. (Gene) Henderson, son William N. (Bill) Henderson, second husband Thurman C. Sims, brothers James L. Brown, A. Curtis Brown, Lewis Heilig "Tite" Brown, a sister Gladys Brown Sedberry, stepdaughter Jackie Sims Welbourne, and a stepson T.C. "Skip" Sims Jr. She is survived by her daughter Elaine Henderson Humphrey and son-in-law Mike Humphrey, grandson Garron Humphrey and his fiance Brooke, and a great- granddaughter Iris. She is also survived by a step daughter Barbara S. Sims of Winnsboro, S.C. and 3 step grandchildren and 6 step greatgrandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:30 PM Wednesday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be 3:00 PM Thursday June 4, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Kannapolis officiated by Rev. Judith White. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
