Obituary: Annette Helms Baldwin, 56, passed away Tuesday evening, February 9, 2016 at CHS-NorthEast Medical Center, following a courageous battle with cervical cancer. Born February 27, 1959 in Mooresville, NC, Annette was a daughter of Bill and Elaine Helms. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Cleo and Helen Morris, and Carl and Nell Helms. Annette had been owner/operator of Grampy's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor in Harrisburg and had also been employed at Punchy's Diner in Concord. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend to many, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Annette was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, family members include her husband of 22 years, Jeffery Van Baldwin; her daughter Brandy Hundley (Tom Heller); her son Mitchell Hundley (Karen Arnette); sisters Gina and Sonia Helms; grandchildren Baylie Hundley, Boston and Kynnedi Heller and her best friend Sharon Center. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Funeral services to remember and celebrate her life will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 13th at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, conducted by Pastor Lewis Whittington. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials to further cervical cancer research may be made in Annette's name to ACS,1901 Brunswick Ave., Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
