Obituary: Ann Basinger Davis, 80, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2015. She was born March 28, 1935 in Salisbury, NC, the daughter of the late Marvin Reid (Pony) Basinger and Myrtle Castor Basinger. Ann, much like her late husband, always took it upon herself to better her commitment to her family, her faith, and her ethics. She was as a loving wife of 62 years and a devoted mother and grandmother. Throughout the years she worked at the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant #1 & #2 Weave Room and later at Philip Morris in the QA Dept. until her retirement in 2002. Ann was also an active member for many years at First Baptist Church, Concord, NC. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, the Honorable Judge James Curtis Davis; who died May 10, 2015; and three sisters, Betty Kluttz, Mary Tucker, and Genelda Kessler. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 23, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. Tom Anderson. Inurnment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the church parlor prior to the memorial service. Survivors include three sons, Michael Davis and Mark Davis & wife, Teresa, both of Concord, NC; and Dr. Hung Davis of Glen Burnie, MD; a daughter, Lisa Davis of Kannapolis, NC; three sisters, Linda Davis of Faith, NC; Judy Stirewalt of Kannapolis, NC; and Tonia Culp of Rockwell, NC; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
