Obituary: Annie Lee Johnson Dayvault, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at her home after a period of declining health. She was born August 24, 1928 in Guilford County, NC, the daughter of the late John Lee Johnson and Annie Mae Ridge Johnson Wright. Annie was a graduate of the former Landis High School. In earlier years she worked for Stanly Home Products for five years. Later, she was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One Sewing Room and Towel Packaging Depts. for thirty-six years. She was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, Kannapolis, NC where she taught Sunday school for several years. Two of her favorite pastimes included reading and fishing at Lake Norman. She was proud to be a grandmother and "Nana" to her family. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wertz Dayvault in 1993 whom she married on February 8, 1944; and a brother, Max Lee Johnson who died in 1998. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 3, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home prior to the service. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Dayvault Kirby Broome; a granddaughter, Tammy Kirby Lewis & husband, Todd ; great-grandchildren, Courtney Mann Miller & husband, Christopher B. Miller; Alex Lenlee Paul Lewis; and Blake Edward Lewis; great-great-grandchildren, Ethan Tyler Miller and Sara Ann Miller, all of Kannapolis, NC; a sister-in-law, Helgia Johnson; and a niece, Toni Champ & husband, John, both of Mocksville, NC. The family would like to say a special thank you to the support organization, Healthy at Home, especially their care partners, Karen, Maxie, and Teresa; our special friends, Mary & Johnny Anderson, who provided invaluable help during Annie's declining days; and to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County who provided very special support in her final days.
