Annie Lunsford Goforth

Obituary: Annie Lee Lunsford Goforth, 97, of Concord, formerly of Kannapolis went home to be with her Lord on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Five Oaks Manor following a period of declining health. She was born June 14, 1915 in Cherokee County, NC a daughter of the late William Mark and Daisy Adams Biggers Lunsford. Mrs. Goforth was a member of Edward's Road Baptist Church in Kannapolis. She had retired from Cannon Mills Plant #4 card room and Plant #1 wash cloth dept. She retired in 1981 with over 46 years of service. She always enjoyed working in her garden at her home. She was the last of nine children, having been preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 3, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Billy Locklear. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. At other times they will be at their respective residences. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Woodrow Goforth who died Oct. 21, 1976. Survivors include one son, Edward W. Rhodes and wife Shirley, one daughter, Grace Furr, three stepsons, James Mitchell, Frankie and Kenneth Goforth, all of Kannapolis. Five grandchildren, Wilma Smith, Danny Furr and wife Jackie, Gary Rhodes and wife Sherry, Teresa Allman and husband Kilburn, and Lori Bradshaw and husband Tommy. Twelve great grand children, 15 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews including one special niece, Shirley Furr also survive.
