Obituary: Annie Powers Hamm, 84, of Kannapolis passed away, Friday, November 23, 2018 at her home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Powers officiating, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Sunday prior to the service. Annie was born May 31, 1934 in Ashe Co. NC to the late Basil Powers and Ruth Howell Powers. She was employed by the former Terry Products Inc. for 37 years. She attended North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church and Midway United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hamm fought breast cancer for seven years. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. She enjoyed many things in life; gardening, cooking, canning, and sewing. She loved flowers, birds and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007 Dale J. Hamm, two sisters Doris Sturgill, Virginia Venable, two brothers, Elmer Powers and Joseph Powers. Those left to cherish her memory two daughters, Barbara Sue Duty (Joe) of Kannapolis, Kathy Lambirth (Curlee) of Kannapolis, two grandchildren, Eric Lambirth (Raellen), Kevin Lambirth (Sara), one great grandchild, Christopher Shawn Lambirth, two brothers, Bill Powers, Allen Powers, four sisters Mary Blevins, Mable Turner, Carol Ellis, and Joann Seagraves.
