Annie Mae Holshouser Johnson

Obituary: ROCKWELL - Annie Mae Holshouser Johnson, 70, of 3870 Highway 152 East, began her new life in Heaven with her Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at her home after a short illness. She was born on January 30, 1939 in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Clay James Holshouser and Evelyn Oveda Jackson Holshouser. She was educated in the Rowan County Schools. She was a devoted pastor's wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. She was a member of New Haven Baptist Church, China Grove, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher, children's church coordinator, choir member and a soul winner. She loved flowers, working in her garden, and cooking. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren had a special place in her heart and she was known by all for her "sacrificial giving." She was a true "Proverbs 31 Woman" and was "Far Above Rubies." In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Franklin Delmar Johnson Jr.; a sister, Mary Ellen Karriker; and four brothers, Larry Dean Holshouser, Thomas Lynn Holshouser, Charles Marshall Holshouser and Troy Lee Holshouser. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at New Haven Baptist Church, 3840 Highway 152 East, China Grove, officiated by Pastor Matthew J. Farthing of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Hillsborough, N.C. The burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, and the body will remain there until time for the service. The family will be at the home beside the church for the remainder of the time. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 55 years, Rev. Franklin Delmar Johnson; two daughers, Tammy Evans and Patty Overcash and husband, Jeff, both of Salisbury, N.C.; four sons, Randy Johnson and wife, Cindy, Danny Johnson, Timothy Rik Johnson and wife, Donnette, and James Johnson and wife, Kristina, all of Rockwell, N.C.; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two special people in Annie Mae's life, Amber Galan and Megan Shuping. Survivors also include two sisters, Louise Johnson and husband, L. A., of Salisbury, and Doris Burris, of Kannapolis; six brothers, Jake Holshouser and wife, Betty, William (Buck) Holshouser, Kenneth Holshouser and wife, Judy, Terry Holshouser and wife, Bonnie, and Bill Holshouser, all of Salisbury, and Bobby Holshouser and wife, Esther, of Salem, Va.; and two sister-in-laws, Frankie Holshouser and Brenda Holshouser, both of Salisbury. The family would like to thank Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, and a special thanks to Dianne Brideson, RN, and Dr. Andrea Allen. Memorials may be made to New Haven Baptist Church, P.O.
