Obituary: Mrs. Annie Mae Faggart McCreary, 90, of Landis, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 after several years of declining health. She was born April 21, 1922 in Mecklenburg County Virginia, to the late Jacob Franklin Faggart and Bessie Witherspoon Faggart. She retired from Cannon Mills Company after many years of service in the sheet department. She was a lifetime member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church, where she was active as long as her health permitted. A former member of the choir and jet set group along with other activities, she truly loved her church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray Franklin McCreary who she married on May 4, 1940; two sisters, Frances Beaver, Eva Nell Griffin, and a brother, Harold Faggart. Survivors include a daughter, Modena Weaver and husband Jimmie of Kannapolis; two sons, Terry R. McCreary and his wife, Mitt and Eugene (Gene) McCreary and his wife, Patsy all of Landis, NC. Eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Doran Overcash. A funeral service will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the North Kannapolis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kristy Burnette and Rev. Susan German officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
