Obituary: Annie Ruth Fisher, 88, resident of Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville, NC, died Friday, March 13, 2015, after a prolonged illness. Mrs. Fisher was born May 9, 1926, in Kannapolis, NC, daughter of the late James F. and Mary C. Brinkley. She was predeceased by her husband Gip H. Winecoff, Jr. in 1984, and her brothers J.B., Homer, and Norman Brinkley. She is survived by her husband Karl E. Fisher, Sr.; sons Gip H. Winecoff, III and wife Cindy of Chesapeake, VA, and Timothy M. Winecoff and wife Hollie of Winston Salem, NC; stepchildren Karl E. Fisher, Jr. and wife Betty of Kannapolis, David and June Christian also of Kannapolis, and Gary and Katherine Fisher of Hillsborough, NC; grandchildren Alex Winecoff and Jennifer Flores and husband Lance; great grandchildren Noah Winecoff and Savannah Flores; step-grandchildren Chris and Ryan Moore, Aaron and Patrick Fisher, Tyler Christian, and John and Brenda Fisher; and sisters Edith Thornburg of Lincolnton, NC, Helen B. Lawton of Ocala, FL, and Janice B. McCombs of Kannapolis. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral home at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 17. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, NC. Chaplain Roland Cavanaugh of Piedmont Crossing will officiate.
