Annie Lee Thomas, 97, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Annie was born on January 7, 1927 in Stanly County. She was a cherished daughter of the late William Cesar Thomas and Daisy Ann Mullis Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Frankie Wayne Blackwelder; great great-granddaughter, Rebecca Newton; Siblings, Vance Thomas, Paul Thomas, John Thomas, Silas Thomas, Lily MayBookout, and Charlie Thomas.
Annie grew up in Red Cross, NC on a farm with her 8 brothers and sisters. She worked in Cannon Mills for many years in the weave room, housekeeping and main office.
Annie walked everywhere she went. She cherished her daily walks with her beloved dog, Buddy. Annie had a special bond with her bird, whose cheerful songs and companionship brightened her days.
Her green thumb was evident in her flower gardens, where she spent countless hours tending to her beloved flowers.
Annie was a gifted conversationalist; she had a unique ability to make everyone laugh.
She was a vibrant soul who found joy and freedom in dancing, embracing every moment with energy and grace. Her love for dance was evident in the way she moved through life. She lived her life with independence and authenticity, embracing each day fully on her own terms. Annie lived a beautiful 97 years the way she wanted to. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Steve Thomas (Lyn); daughter, Shelia Rivera (J.C); brother, Claude Thomas; sister, Margie Mills. Annie was also blessed with 4 grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 12:00pm at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove with Rev. Alan Thompson officiating.
