Obituary: Anthony Cotignola, Sr., age 80, of Concord died peacefully at his home on September 5, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. His family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home on Sunday, September 7, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM with Fr. Dionne leading the Rosary at 8:30 PM. A Graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC on Wednesday, September 10, at 11:00 AM. Anthony was born January 16, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Charles and Rafaela Cotignola. He was a proud veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army infantry as a paratrooper. Anthony was an electrician with the New York City Hospitals for over 25 years. He retired from Levittown, NY to Las Vegas, NV and enjoyed extensive travelling with his wife. Anthony was an award winning, self-taught sculptor, receiving numerous awards while living in NV. They moved to Concord in 2007 to be near family. In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his sister, Rose C. Denimark and his brother, George Sinisgallo. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ada Reyes Cotignola, his 2 sons; Anthony "Tony" Cotignola, Jr. (Stefanie) of Harrisburg and Chris Cotignola (Annie) of East Northport NY and 1 grandson Joseph Cotignola of Harrisburg.
