Archie David Coley

Obituary: Archie David Coley, 77, of Durham, Passed away Sunday, December 1, 2012 at Durham Regional Hospital following a period of declining health. Mr. Coley was born in Cabarrus County on December 29, 1934 a son of the late Oscar Raymond and Maggie Amanda Jones Coley. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Beaver Coley, his step-mother, Jennie Beaver Coley, brothers; Dr. William Coley and Robert M. Coley, and sisters; Lavada Mae Coley Lambert and Helen Coley Alexander. Funeral services for Mr. Coley will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 8. 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Blue officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 1:00 PM on Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home. Mr. Coley was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War and was formerly employed as a superintendent with a road construction company. Mr. Coley is survived by his wife, Betty McCloud Coley of Durham, two sons; Archie David Coley Jr. (Rhonda) of Mt. Pleasant, and Ronald E. Coley of Kannapolis, three daughters; Tina Coley Lowery, Sandra Coley Arnette (Mike) and Teresa Coley Vall (Mark) all of Kannapolis, two step-sons; Steven Harmon (Karen), and Michael Harmon both of Durham, three brothers; James Lee Coley of Concord, Oscar Raymond Coley Jr. (Peggy) of Concord and Harold D.
