Arlene Wiles Helms, 84, formerly of Kannapolis, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 4, 2022, at her daughter’s home in China Grove.
Born August 22, 1937, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Russell Belvin Wiles and Minnie Marshall Wiles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Wiles and a sister, Carol Wiles.
Arlene was a 1955 graduate of A.L. Brown High and had retired from Cannon Mills after more than 30 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed being at home and spending time with her much loved family. A loving mother, sister, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, Mrs. Helms will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Family members include her children, Wanda Cox (Gene), Kenny Gene “Heavy” Helms (Rita) and Debbie Morris (Jamie); her sister, Dot Howard; grandchildren, Michael Honeycutt (Tina), Tommy Barnhardt (Lindsey), Phillip Cox, Whitley Helms, Jayme Bonds (Jason) and Stephanie Morris; 12 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and extended family members.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 6, 2022, from 12:00-1:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Hom. Graveside services to remember and honor Mrs. Helms will begin at 1:00 pm Friday at Carolina Memorial Park.
