Arnold L. "A.L." Hensley

Obituary: Arnold L. "A.L." Hensley, Jr., 68, went to meet his savior on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Salisbury VA Medical Center. Born August 23, 1948 in Rockingham County, VA, he was a son of the late Arnold Luther Hensley, Sr. and Edith Showalter Hensley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Janice Shifflet and a son-in-law Tim Mansfield. Mr. Hensley had honorably served his country with the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he was a recipient of 2 Purple Hearts. Fulfilling his calling into the ministry, he had pastored churches in Albemarle, Bridgewater, VA, Rock Hill and Fort Lawn, SC. His love and faithfulness are remembered and celebrated here on earth, but Heaven's celebration is far greater today. Loving family members include his wife of 43 years Martha Deaton Hensley; his sons David Hensley (Roxanna) of Rock Hill and Barry Lackey, of Kannapolis; his daughters Tanya Mansfield and Darla Michaw (Jeff), both of Rock Hill; brothers Larry Hensley (Brenda) and Hank Hensley, of Virginia; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 28th from 11:00-12:00 at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Funeral service to celebrate Mr. Hensley's life will begin at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Marion Hilton.
