Arnold Eugene Parks

Obituary: Mr. Arnold Eugene Parks, 87, of Kannapolis went to be with his Lord on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House following a brief illness. He was born February 25, 1926 in Rowan County, NC son of the late Homer Glenn and Eula Frances Freeze Parks. Arnold was educated at Landis High School. Arnold was a machinist who in early life was employed at Cannon Mils, Plt.'s #1 and #4, later at Douglas Aircraft and retired from Westinghouse in Charlotte. He was a lifelong member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church and was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WW2. Arnold enjoyed gardening and animals, loved all his friends and neighbors and shared all his love with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had adopted a pet cow named Susie. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Sarah Wagner Parks of the Home, two daughters, Jenny Linebarrier and husband Steve of Kannapolis, Kathy Cress and husband Cecil of China Grove, five grandchildren; Julie L. Vargas and husband Ricardo, Phil Linebarrier and wife Megan, Carrie DeLong and husband Greg, Jill C. Kingston and husband Eric and Joseph Cress. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Andrea Vargas, Elena Vargas, Brandon Vargas, Carson DeLong, Grace DeLong, Jake DeLong, Claire Kingston and Ellie Kingston. A celebration of his life will be held 4:00 P.M. Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Bethpage Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Ellen Campbell-Gardner. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30-3:45 P.M. in the church fellowship hall. At other times they will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to Bethpage Presbyterian Church, 6020 Mooresville Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
