Obituary: Arnold B. Raines, 82, of Kannapolis, went to be with his heavenly father on September 16, 2014. Arnold was born on February 28, 1932 in Ellerbe, N.C. to the late John and Cora Raines. Arnold was one of eleven children who grew up on the family farm. Throughout his life he worked in retail at Rose's, Kmart, and Walmart until his retirement. Grandkids and gardening were his passion after retirement. Surviving are his wife, Marlene Raines (Kannapolis), and children, A. B. Raines (Diane), Carol Rankin (Charles ), Deana Honeycutt (Rodney), Susan Hamlett (Ralph), Robin Smith (Rodney), and Penny Manus (Jason). Step-children surviving are Duane Hibner (Susan), Keith Hibner (Jeanne), and Cathy Seo (Toshio). He was blessed with 23 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 4 siblings Nolene Brookshire, Clarence Raines (Annabelle), Ralph Raines (Sylvia), and Thelma Clarke (Charles). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bobbi Monroe and six siblings. The service will take place at 2:00 P.M., Friday, Sep. 19, 2014 at Piedmont Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mike Edwards. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Special thanks to the staff of Northeast Medical ICU staff. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Whitley's Funeral Home to help with expenses.
Visitation: 7:00-8:30 PM, Thursday September 18, 2014 Whitley's Funeral Home.

Service: 2:00 P.M., Friday September 19, 2014 Piedmont Baptist Church.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park.
