Obituary: China Grove, NC- Arthur L. Broadway, age 64, died Monday, August 3, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC after several years of declining health & six months of serious illness. He was born September 2, 1944 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Paul Broadway and Arlene London Broadway. He was a 1962 graduate of South Rowan High School. In earlier years he worked for the former Cannon Mills Co.Plt.#1 #7 Weave Room for many years until 1970. Then, he left to pursue a career in management in the grocery business until 1981. Eventually, owning & operating a welding shop until his retirement. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Joanne Hull, pastor of Prospect Presbyterian Church, Mooresville, NC and Rev. Clyde Cook, pastor of Love Valley Presbyterian Church, Love Valley, NC. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Helen Dillard Broadway; a daughter, Cheryl B. Chandler & husband, Wayne, and granddaughter, Taylor Chandler, all of China Grove, NC; one brother, Paul Franklin Broadway & wife, Patty of Kannapolis, NC; and one sister, Carolene Davis & husband, Jerry of Lexington.
