Obituary: Arthur Clement (Art) Reinders, 79, of Davidson passed away April 6, 2019 surrounded by his family, at the Tucker Hospice House. He was born December 26, 1939 in Elyria, Ohio, a son of the late Clement H. and Norma Yates Reinders. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Mincey Reinders, brother, Russell and sister, Nancie. Art was a veteran of the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He then joined the NC Air National Guard for 27 years until his retirement. MSgt (Ret) Reinders was one of the last Flight Engineers assigned militarily to the 156 Airlift Squadron and was also a full time Air Technician with the Maintenance Squadron. Art joined the unit on 9 Sep 67 while the unit was flying the C-124, Globemaster and served until his retirement on 8 Sep 94, closing out the era of the C-130B model. After retiring, Art worked for US Tire for 19 years. He also was an avid farmer all his life. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 9th at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday, April 8, 2019 at Whitley's. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Salisbury with military honors later in the week. He is survived by daughters, Debra J. Mizelle (Kirk), Robin R. Helms, grandchildren, Trey Helms, fiance Kayla Moore, Arthur C. Helms (Audrey), Madeleine Mizelle, Sarah Hanes (Jonathan), great grandchildren, Jackson and Arthur Brooks Helms, Halle and Thomas Hanes, brother, Butch Reinders (Annie), sisters, Marjorie Emmerick (Chuck) and Lynn Crowe. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at CMC-NorthEast ICU unit and Tucker Hospice House for their love and care shown to Art and his family. Memorials may be made to Tucker Hospice House and/or Atrium NorthEast Foundation.
