Arthur H. Richardson

Obituary: Mr. Arthur Horace Richardson, 81, of Kannapolis died Monday, August 15, 2011 at his residence. Death was unexpected. He was born June 26, 1930 in Carroll County, NH a son of the late Horace and Ernestine Berry Richardson. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean War Era. He was employed as a truck drive for Fredrickson Motor Lines and later retired from Del R. Block Company in Laconia, NH. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Kannapolis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Richardson and his wife of 55 years, Jean Hurst Richardson who died July 24, 2011. A son, Randy Richardson and two brothers; Wayne and Vern Richardson also preceded him in death.Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Charity Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Marty Payton and Dr. R.J. Hammond. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to final rites. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC with military graveside rites conducted by the US Navy and the Rowan County Veteran's Council. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 17, from 6:00-7:30 P.M. at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at their respective residences.He is survived by two sons, Chad Richardson and wife Stacy of Northfield, NH. and Thad Richardson of Charlotte, two grandchildren, Emma and Chloe Richardson, two brothers, Wayne and Vern Richardson and a sister, Donna Sturgeon all of Moultonbourough, NH.
