Obituary: Audrey Eugene Stirewalt, 85, of China Grove went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from VA Med. Center Hospice Unit in Salisbury following a period of declining health. His funeral will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 8, at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel with Rev. David Franks officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel, at other times they will be at the family residence. Audrey was born May 10, 1931 in Rowan Co., a son of the late Price E. and Christine Bostian Stirewalt. He was a lifelong area resident and a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. Audrey was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and he attended First Reformed Church of Landis. Audrey was a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge # 283. Before his retirement, Audrey worked for the Bahnson Co. of Winston Salem; supervising the installation of air-cleaners in many of the area mills. His family will remember him as a man of habit; wake up early, eat breakfast at "Jimmie's", mow grass and break for lunch...repeat. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his son, Kenny Stirewalt of China Grove and his daughter, Tracy Davidson (Rick) of Shelby, also surviving are 2 grandchildren; Matthew Davidson (Margo) and Alyssa Hamrick (Miles), 3 great-grandchildren; Caleb Petri and Halen and Ava Davidson, his brother Glenn Stirewalt of Charlotte and his sister, Diane Bernard of China Grove. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Allmon Stirewalt.
