Obituary: Autie Bell Almond, 89, of Kannapolis died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Big Elm Nursing Center. She was born on September 3, 1922 in Stanly County, the daughter of the late Rufus and Grace Ellen Harwood Almond. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Clinton Almond on April 25, 1981. She retired in 1987 from Cannon Mills Co. Plant #1 in the sewing room after 30 years of service. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church where she had been active in the United Methodist Women, Christian Fellowship Club, Sunshine Club and many other church activities. She also enjoyed baking and gardening. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at Midway United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Burt Williams. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda A. Tilley (Steve) of Kannapolis, two grandsons, Steven Tilley (Elizabeth) and Andrew Tilley and a great grandson Connor Tilley.
