Obituary: Rockwell, NC- Barbara Smith Aldridge, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at her home. She had been in declining health for some time. She was born April 21, 1949 in Danielsville, Georgia, the daughter of the late James Bennie Smith and Lottie Bell Davis Smith. She was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School. Barbara was employed at the former Terry Products, Inc., Kannapolis, NC for many years until her retirement in 1994 due to disability. Her family fondly remembers her love of going to the beach, riding motorcycles with her husband, and spending quality time with her family. She also had a love for country and gospel music. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Raymond Ross. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 6, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Fred L. Aldridge; five children, Barry Brooks & wife, Darlene and David Brooks & wife, Tracy, both of China Grove, NC; Susan Sherman and Brandy Aldridge, both of Rockwell, NC; and Shannon Koenig of Thomasville, NC; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jo Upright & husband, Howard of China Grove, NC.
