Obituary: Barbara Garmon Copeland, age 77, of Salisbury, died Monday, July 28, 2014 at her home after a brief illness. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 31 at North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church with Rev. Ronald Haithcock, Rev. Jesse Garmon, Rev. Steve Beam and Rev. Edwin Luther officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 30 at other times they will be at her residence. Barbara was born November 8, 1936 in Rowan Co., a daughter of the late A. M. and Deemy Beaver Garmon. She was a long time area resident and a very active member of North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church; where she had been a Sunday school teacher, music director and organist/pianist for many years. Barbara taught for 30 years at West Rowan Middle School and prior to that in Randolph County School System. She loved to travel with Christian Tours, and will be fondly remembered for cooking fine meals. Barbara was self-taught and accomplished at many keyed instruments. She loved to sing and play the piano at the church as well as her home. Barbara loved Jesus and her family. She will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, William Lawrence Copeland in 2010. She is survived by her son, Michael Copeland (Sharon) of China Grove; her daughter, Donna Copeland Moore of Kannapolis, her 4 grandchildren, Joshua and Taylor Copeland, Robert and Jonathan Moore and step-grandchild, Cary Jackson and her great grandchildren, Nolan Miller and Jayden Moore. She is also survived by 3 sisters, Peggy Farlow (Don) of High Point, Betty Keller of Kannapolis and Phyllis Seymore (Alex) of China Grove and 4 brothers, Jesse Garmon, Gary Garmon, Stephen Garmon (Cathy) and John Garmon (Debbie) all of China Grove.
