Obituary: Kannapolis, NC Barbara Rae Sowder Freeze, 77 of Kannapolis, died Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Transitional Health Care of Kannapolis, after a period of declining health. A gathering to celebrate Barbara's life will be held at Whitley's Annex Chapel from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Saturday, February 23. Her friends are encouraged to come and share funny stories, memories and good times with her family. Barbara was born August 15, 1941 in Rockford IL, a daughter of the late Jake and Virginia Anderson Sowder. She was a 1959 graduate of A. L. Brown. Barbara worked in retail sales most of her life, including managing Fostoria, Van Heusen and the Paper Factory. She was an avid reader and an ardent Oakland Raiders fan. Barbara will be remembered for her witty sense of humor and her willingness to help those in need. She was a loving and supportive sister, aunt and friend. Those left to cherish her memories include her sister, Ann Collins of Kannapolis and her nieces; Lara Collins-Kempka (Kevin) of San Diego, CA and Jean Collins Love (Tommy) of Monmouth, OR.
