Obituary: Concord, NC Barbara Jean James Larrabee, age 78, of 1040 Odell School Rd. died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at CMC-NorthEast in Concord.Her death was unexpected. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 13th at 3:00 PM at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte with Rev. Dr. Larry Mitchell officiating. She will lie instate at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, October 12th at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis at other times they will be at 1062 Odell School Rd. in Concord at the home of Laura and Sam Pelfrey, Jr. Barbara was born May 30, 1931 in Alameda CA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cambell James and Ethel Mary Harmon James. She was raised and educated in Alameda. She worked for the Alameda Naval Air Station in the Rework Facility, retiring after 28 years of service. She moved to Charlotte in 1989 and worked for CPCC in the Registration office for 3 years. Barbara also did volunteer work at CMC-NorthEast in the Chemo section of the Oncology Dept. and with Hospice of Cabarrus Co.She loved her work and enjoyed the patients whom she admired for their strength. Barbara made many friends there. She was a member of Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church where she made many friends. She belonged to the Circle of Mary.Barbara was preceded in death by 3 brothers. She is survived by her husband; James C. Larrabee of the family home and her daughter, Nancy Ann Lynberg and husband, Mike of GA with their sons, Chris and Matt. She is survived by 4 step-daughters; Cindy McKenzie of SC and her children Kristy and Taylor, Dr. Laura Larrabee Pelfrey and husband, Sam Pelfrey, Jr. of concord and their son Matthew, also Linda Van Patton and husband, David of Charlotte and their daughter, Sara Renee and Penny McGuirt and husband, Richard of Concord and their children, Ben and Jessica.
