Barbara Louise Sides Measmer, 91, of Kannapolis, peacefully passed away Saturday afternoon, February 25, 2023, at Transitional Health.
Born July 16, 1931, in Cabarrus county, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Davis and Tina Rosalie Wingate Sides. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Grady Measmer; son, Grady Measmer Jr; 3 brothers and a sister.
Mrs. Measmer had retired from Merit Shoe Store after 25 years of dedicated service and was a member of Forest Hills Methodist Church . Barbara loved all of her family and enjoyed time spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Loving family members include her daughters, Dianne Baker (Frankie) and Ellen Propst (Bobby); her grandchildren, Cindy Cline, Brad Baker, Jessica Gilbreaith and Ashley Beaman; her great grandchildren, Colton and Addyson Cline, and Kloe, Karter, Klaytin and Kynleigh Gilbreaith; nieces, nephews and extended family members. The family would like to especially thank Peggy and Bob Pergola, for the love, care and concern they provided.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am Tuesday, February 28th at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Services to remember and celebrate Barbara’s life will begin at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Reverend Don Burleyson. Burial will follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park, where Mrs. Measmer will be laid to rest beside her husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cabarrus Meals on Wheels, 342 Penny Lane NE, Concord, NC 28025.
