Obituary: Barbara Jean Barrier Oxford, 74, of Concord passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016. She was born October 22, 1941 in Avery County, the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Barrier and Virginia Dare Loudermelt Barrier. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Bealer Leon Barrier and Dora Florene Furches. Barbara was a member of Pitts Baptist Church where she was a former children's Sunday school teacher. She also was a former wedding coordinator and loved photography. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Pitts Baptist Church, Concord officiated by Rev. Scott Davis and Rev. Rickey Oxford. Graveside rites will follow at 3:30 PM Thursday at Burke Memorial Park, Morganton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. She is survived by Claude Anders Oxford, Jr., two sons, Claude A. (Chuck) Oxford, III and wife, Maria of Midland, Rev. Rickey S. Oxford and wife, Kimberly of Midland, 9 grandchildren, Marissa, Isaac, Cailey, Adeodatus (Addy), Caleb, Samuel, Dominique (Nique), Rachel and Elijah James (E.J.) and a great grandchild, Carter James Gray. Memorials may be made to Levine Children's Hospital, 1000 Blythe Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203 and/or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 West Faris Rd. Greenville, SC 29605.
Visitation: 7:00-9:00 PM, Wednesday March 9, 2016 Whitley's Funeral Home.

Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday March 10, 2016 Pitts Baptist Church Concord, North Carolina.

Interment: 3:30 PM, Thursday March 10th at Burke Memorial Park Morganton, North Carolina.
