Barbara Jean (Kay) Rost

Barbara Jean Rost, 81, of Concord, North Carolina, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at her residence following a period of declining health.

Barbara was born April 8, 1939 in Adams County, Ill. The daughter of the late Henry Hank Kay and Edna Laura Hauser Kay. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two daughters Susie and Sally Rost.

A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at a later date to be determined by the family.

Barbara was a licensed massage therapist who worked in the healthcare industry. She loved musical theatre and singing musicals with her granddaughters at the Omaha Orpheum. She was the happiest when with her children and grandchildren playing scrabble and singing along with Barbara Streisand.

Family members left to cherish her memory include five children; Kevin and Jami Rost of Omaha, NE., Jill and Daniel Kent of Huntsville, Al., Thomas and Margaret Rost of Omaha,NE., Jane and Martin Ardis of Concord, NC., and Jennifer and Skip Ammons of Clarks Hill, SC.

She is also survived by siblings; Hank Kay, Florence Millspaugh, Mike Gilliland, Debbie Pease and Diana Gilliland. She has ten grandchildren; Patrick, Joseph, Patrick, Masey, Kaylyn, Shay, Amber, Jackson, Emilee and Tommy along with nine great grandchildren; Samuel, James, Tyson, Alex, Lily, JJ, Harper, Kennedy and Miriam.
