Barbara Jean (Stephens) Sipes

Barbara “Bobbie” Jean Stephens Sipes, 76, of China Grove, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 17, 2023.

Barbara was born on April 6, 1947 in Greenville, NC to the late Calvin Odell Stephens Sr. and Janie Elizabeth Wilson Stephens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Eugene “Gene” Sipes.

Barbara was a lifelong and faithful member of Genesis Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and learning about family genealogy. She dearly loved her late husband Gene and used to love going camping together with their beloved dog, Trixie.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Timothy Sipes and wife, Lela; daughter, Kathy Adeyinka; six grandchildren Justin, Tyler, Ana, Sammy, Christian, Hunter, four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Margaret Stephens and Carolyn Smith; two brothers, Calvin Stephens Jr. and George Stephens, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Genesis Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Genesis Baptist Church with Rev. Rex Ware and Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
