Barbara Ann Suggs

Barbara Ann Little Suggs, 86, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023 after a period of declining health.

Barbara was born on July 25, 1937 in Cabarrus County. She was a cherished daughter of the late Claude “C.B” Buck Little and Grace Kiser Little. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William George Suggs; daughter, Georgann Suggs Kerley; grandson, Jacob Sherrill; and siblings, Lou McQuay, Jane Martin, Helen Sherrill, Buck Little, Danny Little, Gale “Tootsie” Anderson

Barbara had a heart that knew no bounds. Her commitment to helping those in need extended far beyond the walls of Lee’s Sandwich Shop. Countless times, she would offer a warm meal to anyone who hungered, regardless of their circumstances. Her love and care for others were evident in every sandwich she served and every smile she shared.

Barbara enjoyed the timeless tunes of Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. She also loved taking trips to the beach and the mountains to see the leaves change colors. But it was in her kitchen that she truly shone. She was an exceptional cook, known far and wide for her culinary skills. Her creamed corn and candied yams were the stars of holiday gatherings, making each celebration unforgettable. In the winter, she lovingly crafted homemade mints that melted in the mouth, bringing joy and sweetness to the coldest of seasons.

Her boundless love, unselfish spirit, and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her children, Chic Suggs (Robin), Doug Suggs, grandchildren, Heather Suggs, Jessica Suggs, Alex Suggs, Jon Suggs, great grandchildren, Kairen and Jianna.

Services for Barbara will be held at 2:00 pm October 26, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis with Rev. Alan D. Woodie. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
