Barbara Hudgens Waddell

Obituary: Barbara Jean (Jeannie) Waddell, 71, of 1903 Woodlawn Street, Kannapolis, NC died Monday Dec. 14, 2009 at her home. She was born July 25, 1938 in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Charles R. and Nellie Bounds Hudgens. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jack Waddell and two brothers, Charles R. Hudgens Jr. and Jerry W. Hudgens. She retired from K-Mart in Kannapolis after 29 years. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church. She was a veteran of the US Woman's Army Corps 1958 to 1961. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday Dec. 17, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. R.J. Hammond. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 Thursday at Whitley's. She is survived by her son, Marty Bryn Waddell and wife Lynn of Kannapolis, 4 grandchildren: Bryn, Brittany, Brooke and Braxton, her brother Ronnie Hudgens and wife Susan of Kannapolis and a number of nephews.
