Barry Joe Helms

Obituary: Barry Joe Helms, 65, of Cambrook Court, Concord died Saturday May 5, 2012 at CMC-Northeast, Concord. Death was unexpected. Barry was born April 20, 1947 in Cabarrus County, NC son of the late B.E. "Joe" Helms and Phyllis Helms Lippard. He was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Kannapolis and was a veteran serving with the US Air Force. He was employed with the Kannapolis Police Dept. from 1970-1975. He later managed contract security. He had been employed with the N. C. Transportation Museum in Spencer for five years at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Martha Gaddy Helms of the home, a daughter, Laurie Beaver of Kannapolis, a granddaughter, Lilly, one sister, Connie Young of Concord, father-in-law, Henry Gaddy of Kannapolis, sister-in-law Ann (Eddie) Isenhour of Gastonia , brother-in-law Eddie (Marie) Gaddy of Oak Ridge, N.C. and his feline companion Chloe. Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Judy White and Rev. Harold Bales. The family will receive friends 5:30-7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church prior to the funeral service. At other times they will be at the residence. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Carolina Memorial Park.
