Obituary: Benjamin Jason (B.J.) Bird, 33, passed away on July 19, 2016. He was born September 9, 1982 in Mercer County, West Virginia, the son of Cassy Mabe and the late Ben A. Bird. B.J. loved his animals, especially his dog, Maggie that preceded him in death. He liked to camp, fish and being with his friends. Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM Sunday, July 24 at Whitley's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Whitley's from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will follow at 11:00 AM Monday, July 25 at Sunset Cemetery in Kannapolis. He is survived by his mother, Cassy Mabe, step father, Ed Mabe and the love of his life, soulmate and girlfriend, Stevie Howard, with whom he spent the last part of his life.
