Obituary: Bennie R. Mills, 72, of Kannapolis died Wed. July 4, 2012 at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House following a period of declining health. Mr. Mills was born on June 11, 1940 in Chesterfield County, SC., a son of the late David and Carrie Jordan Mills. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services for Bennie will be held at Genesis Baptist Church at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 7, 2012, with Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday at the Church prior to services. At other times the family will be at the residence. Bennie was employed by Cannon Mills for 48 years having different responsibilities in the Bleachery Dept., and he was also employed at Auto Zone for five years. He was a faithful member of Genesis Baptist Church and dearly loved by his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Steele Mills of the home, a son, Marty Mills (Becky) of Lancaster, SC., a daughter, Lisa Marie Mills (Joey) of Bennettsville, SC., step-sons, Terry Foster (Terri) of Kannapolis, and Chuck Foster (Julie) of Charlotte, a step-daughter, Denise Johannes (Mike) of Kannapolis, a brother, Joe Mills (Bernice) of Kannapolis, sisters; Essie Wallace of Pageland, SC, Tressie Johnson and Roxie Joplin, both of Ruby, SC., 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to Genesis Baptist Church, 9710 Old Concord Rd., China Grove, NC 28023. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com
