Benny K. Hinson

Obituary: Benny K. Hinson, 69, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at CMC-NorthEast. He was born April 12, 1945 in Concord, the son of the late B. Kermit Hinson and Peggy Inez Gragg Hinson. He attended elementary school at Woodrow Wilson, a graduate of A.L. Brown High School Class of 1963 and a graduate of Wingate College, Class of 1965. He then served in the US Navy, stationed at North Island, San Diego, CA. He worked at Cannon Mills and retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon/Pillowtex after a period of 45 years in Information Technology. He also worked and retired from Cooperative Christian Ministries. Benny was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church having taught Sunday School in the children's department for more than 20 years and a choir member. He was attending Piedmont Baptist Church. Benny loved spending time with his family and friends, especially with his two grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed being a member of the Piedmont Singing Men, a choral group in Cabarrus County. He was an avid sports fan, having played softball, football and basketball. He also enjoyed coaching in the Dixie Youth league over the years and youth basketball. A celebration of life service will be held at 5:00 PM Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Mike Edwards. The family will receive friends after the service. Benny is survived by his wife, Bea, a daughter, Michele H. Wright (David) of Oak Island, two sons, Dana A. Hinson of Charlotte and Eric R. Hinson of Durham, two grandchildren, Kennedy Grace Wright and Boston Tanner Wright, a sister, Rebecca H. Ramseur (Melvin) of Kannapolis and loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
